Network DDE
Provides network transport and security for Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) for programs running on the same computer or on different computers. If this service is stopped, DDE transport and security will be unavailable. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

Network DDE is a stand-alone component. The function of Network DDE does not rely on any other XPlite Professional components and removing other components in XPlite Professional should not influence Network DDE.
The following components are dependent on Network DDE. If you remove Network DDE from your system using XPlite Professional you will also be required to uninstall the following components:
XPlite Professional can completely uninstall Network DDE and reinstall to repair Network DDE on:
- Windows XP Professional: orig, SP1, SP2
- Windows XP Home: orig, SP1, SP2
- Windows 2000 Professional: orig, SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4
- Windows 2003 Server: orig, SP1, SP2(coming!)
Of 66 sampled Windows XP users, 34 left Network DDE installed and 32 people uninstalled Network DDE from their system.
Of 393 sampled Windows 2000 users, 6 left Network DDE installed and 7 people uninstalled it from their system. No data for another 380 users (advanced features hidden or incomplete log data).

- In XPlite or 2000lite press
to access preferences.
- Ensure logging is on.
- Check "Send component state data when checking for upgrades" on the Preferences tab.
- Using the Check for Upgrades button on the About tab.
The information sent is the last block only of component installation state data - you can see this in the log as "option=1" or "option=0". No personal information is conveyed.
